The latest addition to Edmonds' beer district coincides with Washington Beer Commission's statewide open house.

It's a big day for beer and Edmonds.

Today is the grand opening of the American Brewing Company, located in the Harbor Square Business Complex. The opening, which begins at noon and continues through 8 p.m., just happens to coincide with the Washington Beer Commission’s Open House 2011. Like we said, it’s a big day for beer in Edmonds.

“After months of stress, hard physical labor, mounds of paperwork and sleepless nights, we are finally ready to open our doors to the public,” said American Brewing owner Neil Fallon. It shouldn’t be too hard to find the place, as Fallon has placed yellow foam markers leading to the doors. “Just follow the yellow foam road.”

Providing entertainment will be rock and blues guitarist Steve Stefanowicz. Stefanowicz, blind since birth, was named Blues Man of the Year in the past by the Tacoma Blues Festival.

In addition, participants can sample appetizers and choose from a selection of wine from and Woodinville-based Sparkman Cellars. Of course, there will be plenty of beer on hand, brewed by American Brewing’s brew master Skip Madsen.

Madsen's creations, served for those 21 and over in the Breakaway Room,  include Breakaway IPA, American Blonde, Ed's Red and Breakaway Caboose.

Those on hand today will have the opportunity to join American Brewing Nation's Founders Club and Breakaway Mug Club. Founders Club membership is $150 to join and $100 to renew, while the Breakaway Mug Club is $50 to join and $50 to renew.  Perks include mugs, T-shirts and invitations to special events.
