Alaska USA Federal Credit Union Opens a Branch in Edmonds

Alaska USA replaces the BECU Credit Union.

Edmonds has a new financial institution.

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union opened a new branch on Tuesday, located inside Safeway at 23632 Highway 99. It takes the spot formerly held by the Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU).

"The branch we had in the Safeway was not large enough to meet our needs so we relocated it to a standlone location just down Highway 99," said Tood Pietzsch, spokesman for BECU. "While it is just a couple of miles south it is no longer in the Edmonds city limits." (It is located 18336 Aurora Ave., Suite 109, Shoreline).

Alaska USA ATMs are part of the  NWCU Alliance Network and are surcharge-free for BECU members.

The Alaska USA branch offers a full range of credit union services, including a 24-hour ATM and a self-service Center. It is open seven days a week.

“With this new in-store branch, members in Edmonds can experience the convenience of Alaska USA near where they live, work, and shop, and others in the area now have the opportunity to experience Alaska USA’s convenient services,” said president Bill Eckhardt in a news release.

Alaska USA opened its first branch in western Washington nearly 30 years ago and now operates 21 branches in the state, including in Shoreline, Bothell, Seattle, Kirkland and Bellevue.

The credit union also operates financial service companies in Washington, including Alaska USA Mortgage Company and Alaska USA Insurance Brokers.

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative with $4.9 billion in assets and more than 450,000 members worldwide. The credit union operates 63 branches throughout Alaska, California, and Washington.

If you want to know what it's like to have your religion disrespected, try having school camps,Read More orchestra and band concerts and back-to-school nights on the holiest of your religious holidays (equivalent to Christmas and Easter). Everyone knows that an egg hunt is an Easter event whether it's called that or not. Everyone know that a holiday tree is really a Christmas tree. Trust me, the atheists and/or non-Christians are not trying to destroy Christianity. First, it would be impossible. Second, it would be too dangerous to us personally. Last, I personally respect other's traditions, but I'm not sure the same can always be said in reverse.

Don't we have more important things to worry about? Easter Egg, Egg Hunt, who cares? It's a funRead More community event. And thank you to the sponsers that make this happen.

First of all, the government is not supposed to promote any religion. Secondly, the Easter bunnyRead More and egg hunt has no historical religious significance that I can think of, even though this is part of an American tradition. I am good with deleting the word Easter, and would like to see a departure from any emphasis on candy, which only compounds the diabetic epidemic in this country. Sometimes it is good to rethink the wisdom of something simply because it is a "tradition".
