Union Plans August Car Show in Everett to Benefit Guide Dogs of America

Machinists Union Local Lodge 751-A's annual custom car and motorcycle show will raise money for Guide Dogs of America.

EVERETT — The eight annual Bill Baker Memorial Steel & Wheels SuperShow is coming to Everett again this year.

The annual show for hot rods and custom motorcycles will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Machinists Union District Lodge 751′s Everett Union Hall, 8729 Airport Road.

The event is sponsored by Machinists Union Local Lodge 751-A and is a fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America. The California-based charity provides guide dogs and instruction in their use free of charge to blind and visually impaired people across the United States and Canada.

Along with the car show, there will be food and music. Entries are $20 for those who pre-register, or $25 on the day of the event. Forms are available at District 751 halls in Auburn, Everett, Renton and Seattle.

Last year’s SuperShow attracted more than 60 custom cars and bikes and raised more than $4,900.

Originally formed in 1935 to represent hourly workers at the Boeing Co., District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 31,500 working men and women at 48 employers across Washington, Oregon and California. In 2011, members of the Machinists Volunteer Program gave more than 10,000 hours of their time to community service, while other volunteers collected more than $263,000 for Guide Dogs of America, the union’s charity of choice.
