Machinists support Inslee's vision for Washington aerospace

Machinists Union officers say they'll support Gov. Jay Inslee's efforts to ensure Washington is the only logical choice for Boeing's 777-X.

MUKILTEO – Officers with Machinists Union District Lodge 751 said they support Washington Gov. Jay Inslee‘s vision for the future of the state’s aerospace industry.

“The Machinists Union supports the growth of Washington’s aerospace industry,” said District 751 Legislative Director Larry Brown.  

“The proposals Governor Inslee made today are real-world solutions to the needs of companies in the world’s largest aerospace cluster,” he said. “We look forward to working with him to achieve the goals he outlined.

“Other states can throw taxpayer dollars at companies like Boeing, but only Washington can provide these kind of targeted investments that benefit companies, workers and taxpayers alike,” Brown added.

“Governor Inslee proved today why Washington is the only logical choice to be home for Boeing’s 777-X,” he said. ”We look forward to partnering with him and the Boeing Co. to make this next-generation, twin-engine widebody jet the market leader for decades to come.”

Originally formed in 1935 to represent hourly workers at Boeing, District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 33,000 working men and women at 49 employers across Washington, Oregon and California.
