Among the top three reasons women say they don't get mammograms once a year is that they are afraid, according to a Seattle Cancer Care Alliance blog post.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
"Fear can motivate women to seek mammograms or avoid them. Some people are afraid of doctors, exams and tests."
Unfortunately, being a woman puts you at risk for breast cancer, regardless of any other factor, the post continues.
