Three Candidates Named to Replace County Executive Aaron Reardon

The Snohomish County Council will select the next County Executive on Monday.

Snohomish County Democrats named three candidates to replace County Executive Aaron Reardon, who left office Friday in the middle of his third term.

Sheriff John Lovick, State Rep. John McCoy and Todd Nichols were named Saturday, according to the county's Democratic Party Central Committee, with Lovick garnering the highest number of votes from the caucus vote.

Lovick has served as Snohomish County Sheriff for five years, and previously served four terms in the state Legislature as a 44th District Representative.

State Rep. John McCoy has served six terms as a 38th District Representative and is a Tulalip Tribe citizen, one of only two Native Americans in the State Legislature.

Todd Nichols is partner at Everett law firm Cogdill Nichols Rein Wartelle Andrews Vail and has served on the State Democratic Party Executive Board since 2001.

The Snohomish County Council will make their selection on Monday. The man they choose will serve until November, 2014, when a public vote is held.

Reardon has been investigated but never charged with using public resources on his campaign and with a mistress.
