Story of WWI Christmas Truce Will Be Presented by A Cappella Group Cantus

All Is Calm, a true story of camaraderie, music and peace, will be performed Thursday at the .

The story of a Christmas truce in 1914 during World War I between Allied and German forces will be told by the male a cappella ensemble Cantus.The story centers on the Western Front, where on Christmas Eve 1914 a young German soldier steps into no-man's land singing β€œStille Nacht.”

All Is Calm was created by Peter Rothstein of the Minneapolis-based Theater Latte Da from letters, war journals and the poetry and songs of World War I, with musical arrangements by Cantus artistic director Erick Lichte and composer Timothy C. Takach.

Rehearsing and performing without a conductor or music director, the nine members of Cantus are renowned for adventurous programming spanning many periods and genres, including work commissioned specifically for the group. Cantus is based in Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN.

All Is Calm will be performed Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Edmond Centers for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N. Tickets, $20-$35, $15 for youth, are available online at www.ec4arts.org or by calling 425-275-9595.
