Get Your Voice On: Sno-King Community Chorale Begins Rehearsals Today

The community group is open to anyone; The Brothers Four join the Chorale in November.

If you love to sing, but your vocalizing so far has been confined to your shower, you are invited to join the nonaudition Sno-King Community Chorale, under the direction of Frank DeMiero, to explore more musical exposure.

Rehearsals are every Tuesday, beginning today, from 7-9:30 p.m. at ’s Mill Creek Hall (room 109).

“We are especially looking for tenors and basses,” says DeMiero. But, of course, no one is turned away.

Back by popular demand will be guest artists The Brothers Four, joining the Chorale for two performances on Nov. 4 in “I Hear America Singing.” The "Holiday Magic" concert will follow on Dec. 8, with children having a special role.

The annual Musica da Coro concert March 23 will present a concert version of "Les Misérables." Closing out the season will be the annual "Ticket to Broadway" on June 8 with an audience sing-along of "My Fair Lady."

If you need a further incentive: Plans are underway for the Chorale’s next trip to Europe in 2014.

Fall enrollment needs to be made no later than Sept. 18. For more information, visit the Sno-King Community Chorale Web site (where you can see the full season lineup) or call 425-673-1242.

If you want to know what it's like to have your religion disrespected, try having school camps,Read More orchestra and band concerts and back-to-school nights on the holiest of your religious holidays (equivalent to Christmas and Easter). Everyone knows that an egg hunt is an Easter event whether it's called that or not. Everyone know that a holiday tree is really a Christmas tree. Trust me, the atheists and/or non-Christians are not trying to destroy Christianity. First, it would be impossible. Second, it would be too dangerous to us personally. Last, I personally respect other's traditions, but I'm not sure the same can always be said in reverse.

Don't we have more important things to worry about? Easter Egg, Egg Hunt, who cares? It's a funRead More community event. And thank you to the sponsers that make this happen.

First of all, the government is not supposed to promote any religion. Secondly, the Easter bunnyRead More and egg hunt has no historical religious significance that I can think of, even though this is part of an American tradition. I am good with deleting the word Easter, and would like to see a departure from any emphasis on candy, which only compounds the diabetic epidemic in this country. Sometimes it is good to rethink the wisdom of something simply because it is a "tradition".
