Rick Steves to Debut National Television Special at Edmonds Center for the Arts

Last year, Rick Steves teamed up with Edmonds' Cascade Symphony Orchestra to record a special on public television. In January, you're invited to see its debut.

Last year, Rick Steves teamed up with Edmonds' own Cascade Symphony Orchestra (CSO) to record a special tourted as unlike anything seen before on public television; a musical tour visiting seven European countries.

As the concert’s tour guide, Steves set the context as the CSO, under the direction of Micheal Miropolsky, performed Romantic 19th-century anthems. Steves’ production team mixed in evocative video images from Steves' public television series archive that celebrated how music stirs the patriotic soul of freedom lovers everywhere. The musical itinerary included Grieg (Norway), Smetana (Czech Republic), Strauss (Austria), Berlioz (France), Elgar (Britain), Wagner (Germany), and Verdi (Italy).

This special is scheduled to debut nationwide on public stations everywhere in January 2013, but Rick Steves, Edmonds Center for the Arts and the CSO invite the Edmonds community for a high-definition screening at Edmonds Center for the Arts on Monday, Jan. 7.
