Free Concert in the Park Today

The 85th Street Big Band will perform at 3 p.m. at City Park.

Edmonds residents can catch free music today in the park, thanks to the Edmonds Arts Commission's

At 3 p.m. today in Edmonds City Park, The 85th Street Big Band will perform classic dance and swing music. The 19-piece big band plays favorites from the ’30s, ’40s, and ’50s, including tunes made famous by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Nat King Cole. Band members come from Seattle, Lake Forest Park, Renton, and farther afield.

Today's concert is one of eight put on this summer by the Edmonds Arts Commission. Shows take place at City Park at Third Avenue South and Pine Street on Sundays in July and August. Shows are at 3 p.m., and concert-goers will know by 2:30 if a show is to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. All concerts are accessible to people with disabilities and open to the public.

The next concert will take place August 14 and features The Diamond Experience, a Neil Diamond Tribute Band.
