Are You a Local Writer? EPIC Writing Group May Be What You're Looking For

The group will have its first meeting Monday at the Edmonds Library.

Are you a writer looking for some support and encouragement?

The EPIC (Edmonds Prose|Poetry Interactive Community) Writing Group, which is free, begins Monday and will be held Mondays from 10 to 11 a.m. at the .

The group is led by local writer Janette Turner, who will present a goal-setting opening, a timed writing session and a read-back period. Writers of all forms of work, including fiction, memoir, short story and essay, are encouraged to attend this supportive group. Writers should bring pen and paper.

"We will support your writing and, for those interested, work towards helping you get published," said Turner.

EPIC also has at EPIC Literary Series, a monthly program at the library that's a partnership with the Swedish Hospital Art Committee, Edmonds Arts Commission, Edmonds Library and Edmond Community College's literary magazine, Between the Lines, with editor Amanda Laughtland.

The EPIC Literary Series events are held the second Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the library. The next event, April 12, is titled "Poetry of Place" and will be led by Judith Roche.

Upcoming guests include outdoors writer Craig Romano May 10 and poet and artist A.K. Mimi Allin June 14.

The Edmonds Library is at 650 Main St., Edmonds.
