Edmonds Summer Concert Series Offers Eclectic Lineup of Music

It’s finally summer.

So we’d thought you'd like to know that the Edmonds Arts Commission has announced this year’s line-up of outdoor summer concerts, and about the only thing missing is rap.

This might just be the most diverse lineup of free summer music Edmonds has ever seen.

Eight concerts will be held at City Park at Third Avenue South and Pine Street on Sundays in June and July. Shows are at 3 p.m., and concert-goers will know by 2:30 if a show is to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. All concerts are accessible to people with disabilities and open to the public.

EDMONDS SUMMER CONCERTS IN THE PARK

July 10: All Mixed Up, Songs from the ’80s and more. The Seattle band takes its name from a song from the Cars, a group that is a big part of its repertoire.

July 17: The Kellee Bradley Band, folk/pop. Bradley, who is public relations manager for the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council, has released three solo CDs.

July 24: Seattle Shakespeare Co/Wooden OZ: The Comedy of Errors (1 hour, 45 minutes). Two sets of long lost twins unknowingly cross paths, and set the stage for an evening of mistaken identity, mixed-up confusion and mayhem.

July 31: Reilly & Maloney, folk. Reilly & Maloney is an American folk duo that first emerged in the 1970s. Featuring Ginny Reilly and David Maloney, they are based in Seattle and San Francisco Bay Area.

Aug. 7: The 85th Street Big Band, classic big band music. The 19-piece big band plays dance music and swing favorites from the ’30s, ’40s, and ’50s, including tunes made famous by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Nat King Cole.

Aug. 14: The Diamond Experience, Neil Diamond tribute band.

Aug. 21: Peter Frothingham, Americana music from an Arlington-based guitarist.

Aug. 28 Ranger & the Re-Arrangers, instrumental Gypsy jazz. The band’s repertoire includes swing standards, traditional Gypsy melodies, the music of Django and Grappelli, Brazilian choros and originals.
