Edmonds Arts Fest Chooses Poster Artist for Work 'Ferry and Poppies'

Kate Larsson's colorful portrayal of signature Edmonds scenes will be featured on festival posters, ads, apparel and specialty items. This year's Edmonds Arts Festival is June 14-16.

Gig Harbor artist Kate Larsson has been chosen as the artist for the 2013 Edmonds Arts Festival poster with her work Ferry and Poppies, a colorful piece showing a ferry crossing a waterway with a foreground of poppies.

The painting will be featured on the festival poster, website, ads, apparel and speciality items. This year’s festival is June 14-16 in downtown Edmonds.

Festival officials noted that the work provides a creative portrayal of signature Edmonds views: ferries, mountains and poppies.

A former marketing executive, Larsson has found success in her second career as an artist, also being selected to provide festival art for Issaquah Salmon Days in 2011, the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in 2012 and the Gig Harbor Garden Tour in 2012 and 2013. She shows her work throughout Washington, as well as in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon and Idaho.

She will have a booth at the festival and an exhibit of her paintings will be shown in the EAF Museum in the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main Street, Edmonds. The exhibit will open Monday, June 10th and continue through the festival.
