Edmonds' Annual Arts Awards Ceremony to Follow Third Thursday Art Walk

The Chamber of Commerce will recognize those helping sustain arts programs in Edmonds in an event following the first Art Walk of 2013 -- the start of the walk's 12th year.

 

Several individuals and organizations active in Edmond’s arts community will be honored Thursday night in a Chamber of Commerce ceremony at the Edmonds Conference Center.

The ceremony will follow the first Third Thursday Art Walk of the year (5-8 p.m.) -- which also marks the start of the walk’s 12th year of existence.

The Edmonds Chamber Arts & Culture Committee selected the winners for the annual awards, which recognize exemplary service in sustaining and creating arts programs in Edmonds.

They are:

  • Business Leadership Award: Manya Vee Selects (now MaJe Gallery) for the Art Walk and Mural Society.
  • Creative Collaboration Award: Rick Steves/Europe Through the Back Door, KCTS, Cascade Symphony Orchestra and Edmonds Center for the Arts for “Europe: A Symphonic Journey.”
  • Individual Leadership Award: Mike Popke of Lynnwood Honda for encouraging partnerships between business and the arts.
  • Individual Volunteer Award: Barbara Kindness for supporting and sustaining arts and culture.
