Calling All Photographers!

Grab your camera and join other shutterbugs for the 2011 Edmonds Photo Marathon, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Edmonds.

Are you a professional photographer, or just the person who snaps dozens of images at every family or holiday gathering? Either way, grab your camera and get ready to try to outshoot other photographers while working with a strict deadline and an on-the-spot photo categories.

The Rotary Club of Edmonds is sponsoring a wacky and fun photo scavenger hunt of sorts, and the proceeds from the entry fee ($30) will go towards various charities sponsored by the club, as well as their scholarship program. Here’s how it works. Participants will meet at the Spanish Club Café (111 W. Dayton) at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 10. Six themes will be announced, and competitors then have six hours to interpret the themes creatively and capture them with a digital camera.

All images must be taken in Edmonds, according to a map handed out at the beginning of the competition and all images must be digital. For complete rules, see details on the Photo Marathon website. Competitors are allowed to shoot as many photos as they like, but they can only submit one photograph per category. A panel of judges will award prizes and recognition for each theme.
