"Every recipe in the book comes from the kitchen of orchestra musicians and myself," says symphony Maestro Michael Miropolsky, who personally submitted many of his favorite family recipes from his childhood in Russia.

"There is so much that music making and cooking share," he wrote in the book's introduction. "Most importantly, it is how much love we put into what we create. Music is meant to nurture our souls as food nurtures our bodies."

The cookbook contains recipes for appetizers, beverages, breads, soups and sides, salads, eggs, meats, seafood, pasta and deserts. Photos illustrate each recipe. Many symphony members contributed short essays about food and music, and sometimes about both.

Measures and Pleasures is available for $15 at and in downtown Edmonds. Additional information including how to order by mail is available at the Cascade Symphony Web site.
