The Edmonds Arts Commission Display Case in the Frances Anderson Center now houses an exhibit of watercolor bird paintings by Hung Nguyen.

In September, bird lovers from around the region will flock to Edmonds for the annual Puget Sound Bird Fest. To highlight the event, The Edmonds Arts Commission has chosen work by local artist Hung Nguyen for display in its case located in the main entrance of the .

“He was selected because of the upcoming Bird Fest,” explained Kris Gillespie, Cultural Services Assistant of the City of Edmonds. “All three of his paintings in the case are of birds.”

Nguyen, who works with various mediums, favors painting with watercolor. His work has been displayed in galleries throughout the Northwest, and his 2004 painting for the “Hot Autumn Nites Annual Car Show” was used for the final poster produced by the Edmonds Arts Commission. The original watercolor is part of the City of Edmonds Portable Art Collection.

“His work reflects a sense of peace and tranquility,” Gillespie remarked, “and that’s one thing that you always know about his work. Some of his paintings are of scenes of people fishing and rivers and boats, and they are always just very tranquil and full of peace.”
