New Frozen Yogurt Shop Opens in Lynnwood

Local entrepreneur Cameron Garner has opened a new Menchie's franchise location in Lynnwood and plans to check out Edmonds.

Frozen yogurt fans can now serve up their favorite flavors at a just opened Menchie's in Lynnwood. The shop is at 2902 164th Street.

The location, which opened on Thursday, is part of the nationwide Menchie's chain. Local entrepeneur Cameron Garner owns the Lynnwood store and two existing Menchie's shops in Federal Way and on Queen Anne hill in Seattle. Garner said the Lynnwood demographics seemed a good fit for a frozen yogurt shop, and the area wasn't already over-saturated with self-serve stores.

"We did a lot of research and found Lynnwood was an area we wanted to grow in," Garner said.

Menchie's isn't the only frozen yogurt shop coming to north Puget Sound. Edmonds will be able to claim its own independent store soon. Rob and Debbie Duvall are opening Revelations Yogurt sometime this month. (See the announcing the store.) Like Menchie's, Revelations Yogurt will feature a variety of self-serve frozen yogurt flavors and toppings.

The Menchie's chain was founded in 2007 by husband and wife team Adam and Danna Caldwell. The name originated because Adam gave Danna the nickname “Menchie.”

Menchie's became famous after Hollywood celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, and Justin Timberlake were frequently photographed eating the treat. Menchie’s currently has more than 80 locations open in the U.S. and Canada, with an additional 120 in development.

Menchie’s in Lynnwood will have more than 100 rotating yogurt flavors, including cake batter, pomegranate tart, chocolate silk and vanilla snow. The store will also feature more than 70 rotating toppings, including fresh fruits, granolas, nuts, an assortment of candies, and hot fudges.
