Need a New Year's Day Wake-Up? Take the Polar Bear Plunge

The annual dip into chilly waters starts at 1 p.m. sharp.

Anyone looking for a brisk start to 2013 is invited to take the Polar Bear Plunge on New Year's Day at Brackett's Landing in Edmonds.

The sixth annual event starts at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with members of the Edmonds Uplift Society and any other brave souls taking the plunge into the chilly waters of Puget Sound.

Donations are encouraged to the Edmonds Historical Museum, and there will be a collection bin on the beach.

Any brave souls with cameras: we'd love to see your pictures or video clips. Just click the "Upload Photos and Videos" button on this story.

We are out the door on our way to snow shoeing near the ice caves. Have fun in the cold water!
