Main Street Bank Features Local Artist

Bank of America's Main Street branch in Edmonds has started displaying work by local artists.

As a town known for embracing local artists, it is never a surprise when new art springs up around Edmonds. A few months ago, local Bank of America customers doing business at the Main Street Branch probably noticed the beautiful watercolor pictures of Italy gracing the walls. The bank has recently decided to join the local art bandwagon and chose as the first artist on display.

“We just hung the pictures a few months ago,” one teller explained. “We can’t be a part of the art walk because of the time factor, but we liked the idea of displaying art and embracing that sense of community.”

The first artist on view, Joel Patience, was recently announced as one of the 2011 mural artists. He paints vivid scenes from his travels to Italy and France, as well as landscapes from the scenic Pacific Northwest. The paintings are for sale, but people are more than welcome to just come in and admire.

“I think it’s great,” said Jean Scott, a Bank of America customer and longtime Edmonds resident. “The pictures look great and I hope they keep bringing in more talent.”

The Joel Patience exhibition runs through June.
