Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 1, which serves Edmonds, were on hand, as were other first responders.

Hundreds of people joined local uniformed public-safety personnel and area elected officials at the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood on Sunday, Sept. 11, to pay their respects to victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on its 10th anniversary.

Framed by a vast American flag between two fire department ladder trucks, the event featured live music from NW Junior Pipe Band and Madie Polyak, who sang  “America the Beautiful” and the national anthem.

Honor guards from Naval Station Everett and Fire District 1, which included members of the Lynnwood and Everett police departments, presented the American flag to Lynnwood Police Chief Steve Jensen.
