Cold Snap Forecast for Edmonds Area; Severe Weather Shelter Open

Temperatures are expected to drop into upper 20s to low 30s the next few nights.

Temperatures will drop into the 20s throughout much of the Western Washington region Thursday night as a cold-air mass moves into the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a special statement advising that temperatures will be in the high teens to low 30s tonight. Light snowfall will remain a possiblity for many areas into the evening hours.

The cool weather will continue into Saturday, when a weak weather system arrives that could bring 2-3 inches of snow to the Puget Sound-area lowlands.

The South Snohomish County Emergency Cold Weather Shelter is open Thursday night. Residents, homeless citizens and anyone in need will be picked up at Lynnwood City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W., at 7 p.m. sharp, or at the bus stop near Trader Joe's on 196th Street at 7:10 p.m. on Thursday and returned to city hall at 7 a.m. the following morning.

The forecast for Edmonds over the next few nights, according to the National Weather Service, calls for rain and snow likely with a low of 30 Thursday night, and then mostly sunny through Monday, with highs in the upper 30s to 40, and lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.
