On this first day of August in summer, may we comment that it's An Edmonds Kind of Day?
Segways are rolling up and down Main Street. Kids and their parents are at the beach. Flip-flops are everywhere, as are joggers, walkers and bicyclists.
The National Weather Service says it might get cloudy tonight, with a 30 percent chance of rain tomorrow (boo), but Friday looks to get a high of 80 and the weekend promises mid- to high-70s.
If all this largesse is getting to you, you can plop down for a while in the chairs at at Old Milltown on Fifth Avenue South.
There are now three bright-red umbrellas there for your pleasure for shade, but we think they might get a little lonely.
After all, some pessimists say Puget Sound only gets three months a year when it's not raining (Sleepless in Seattle), and some go even further in saying we only get a three-week summer (oh, you who will not be named).
So shine on, we say.
