You never know who you'll run into on the downtown streets of Edmonds. If you were at the fountain at about 10:30, you would have seen incoming Mayor Dave Earling and travel expert Rick Steves.

Earling was on his way to a meeting. He's now in the process of getting familiar with City of Edmonds staff, many of whom he's known since his tenure as a City Councilman from 1992 to 2003.
They chatted for a few minutes. Then, like lots of ordinary people in town, just went on with their days.
