A Holiday Tradition: Wreaths Go Up Downtown; Christmas Tree Gets a Star

The holiday season in Edmonds is getting jollier with each passing day.

Santa's little helpers—the city's Parks and Recreation Department—have placed wreaths on lightposts on Fifth Avenue and Main Street as part of an annual tradition.

On Tuesday, P&R elves were also stringing lights on the city's official Christmas tree in Centennial Plaza across the street from City Hall on Fifth Avenue South.

A star now sits on top of the tree.

The annual lighting of the tree, sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, is Nov. 26 at 4:30 at the plaza. There will be entertainment, cookies and cider and, of course, caroling. After the ceremony, pictures with Santa will be available at the .
