Tea Time: Edmonds Getting Its First Tea Room; 80 Different Types, Plus Wi-Fi
Baicha Tea Room will be open by mid-October, says its owners, who plan afternoon teas, a meeting area, soups, sandwiches and salads.
Coffee lovers have plenty of options in downtown Edmonds. In a couple of weeks, those who prefer tea will have a place to call their own with the opening of Baicha Tea Room.
Owners Ann Lalitkomol and Joe Budharaksa, who are married, say they will open in mid-October for a soft opening and plan a grand opening on Nov. 11. The two-story business, which is now being redesigned, is at 622 Fifth Ave. S at the former location of Marilyn Young Beauty.
The main floor will be the place to get order a cup of tea on the spot or to take home the more than 80 varieties of loose-leaf tea, said Lalitkomol. There will also be sandwiches, soups and salads.
The downstairs space will include a seating area and a meeting room.
Lalitkomol, who is originally from Thailand, and her husband, who live in Edmonds, say they plan afternoon tea events.
There will be Wi-Fi access throughout the shop.
