MKG Martial Arts: Another Casualty in the Fourth and Main Area

No reason given for closure of the Edmonds business.

MKG Martial Arts, which is based in Seattle, has announced that it will close its Edmonds location on March 9. There was no reason announced for the impending closure of the store at 111 Fourth Ave. N.

The store's demise is the latest of in a string of closures, openings and shuffling of businesses in the Fourth and Main area.

Just last week, Mu.Shoe closed at 403 Main St. A new tenant, Town & Country Jewelers, is now moving into the location from its longtime spot at 408 Main St.

New Edmonds City Councilman Frank Yamamoto recently closed his Running in Motion store on the northeast corner of Fourth and Main. Jack Murphys Irish pub, meanwhile, opened in December at 109 Fourth Ave. N, which is next to MKG Martial Arts.

Around the corner, Red Petal Cakes plans to open on March 10. That shop is next door to financially troubled Bill the Butcher, whose "coming soon" sign has been on the door of its northwest corner of Fourth and Main for a long, long time.
