Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin at ECA on Friday

The singer-songwriters will perform as a duo.

Two nationally known artists arrive in town on Friday when five-time Grammy Award winner Mary Chapin Carpenter joins Shawn Colvin in a duo show at the .

Carpenter and Colvin will share the stage and perform songs from their vast catalogs. Carpenter, who has recorded 10 albums and sold more than 13 million records, combines folk, country, acoustic, rock and blues. It was her third studio album, Shooting Straight in the Dark, that first gained her widespread acclaim with the hit single “Down at the Twist and Shout.”

Subsequent singles have included “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her,” “Passionate Kisses,” “Bug,” “I Feel Lucky” and “Shut Up and Kiss Me.”

Colvin is a three-time Grammy winner best known for her song “Sunny Came Home.” She recently wrote a memoir, to be published by Harper Collins in May 2012, which is an extension of the personal and often comical stories that she weaves into her shows.
