City of Edmonds Unveils New Website

Bookmark this: edmondswa.gov.

The City is Edmonds is now transitioning to a new Web site that should be a little easier to remember.

The new site, edmondswa.gov, will eventually replace the old one, www.ci.edmonds.wa.us.

The new site is designed by Portland, Ore.-based Judd Boyer, who used an open-source content management system called Joomla.

Boyer says the new Edmonds site incorporates eight different template designs to give each department its own look and feel while retaining consistency.

According to Stephen Clifton, the City of Edmonds' director of Community Services and Economic Development, City staff have spent countless hours working on reviewing each Web page, deleting redundant pages and outdated information, inserting images, helping with formatting and creating new Web pages and articles.

Boyer will be in Edmonds this week to work with City staffers on fine-tuning the site.

"Although the site is almost ready, we have not officially announced the launch or issued a press release," said Clifton. "City staff still have a few items to clean up on the new Web site, and we’re redirecting people temporarily to give them an early glimpse of the new Web site and to solicit feedback. So far, we’ve received only positive comments."
